2006 for us has revolved around our family. On 15th April, one day before her parents’ first wedding anniversary, Charlotte Therese Joyce was born to Simeon and Kelly. Her names are those of her grandmothers’ mothers. Charlotte is a healthy, smiling baby and a joy to her parents and grandparents alike. She has adopted an ordered lifestyle which suits her parents very well. Kelly is on maternity leave until April 2007 when she will return part-time as a senior lawyer with the ABC. Simeon continues managing products for BigPond. Charlotte is our 12th precious grandchild. Anna and Andrew moved their family from Mildura (NW Victoria) across the state to Paynesville, near Bairnsdale (where Andrew works as IT Manager with East Gippsland Water) and on the wonderful Gippsland lakes system. Their new home is roomy and the village is easy and safe to live in. The three older children (11, 9, 7) ride their bikes to and from school; Zachary is almost 3. The shops are a convenient walk away on the water’s edge. We can praise the Lord, and thank you for your prayers, for Lily’s progress this year. While she has been of great concern to us all, and given Chris and Brooke multiple trips to doctors and hospitals, the operation on her tonsils and adenoids means she no longer has to use a C-PAP mask to sleep, and her hearing is now normal. She turns 2 next month and is quite robust, running everywhere. We are hoping that the operation on her palate (in February?) will allow her to develop normal speech. Laura (4), Sam (15), Ben (13) and Eliza (11) are a pleasure to us, too. Virginia has permanent part-time work in the hospital in Coolah as a Registered Nurse and Peter is Head Teacher for the Senior School at the Central School. Ethan and Elliot are abundant with energy (at 4 and 3 years) and must be a great help with the dogs, cats and chickens. |
Peter continues to review radio-controlled model cars, and photograph them for the Racing Lines magazine each month and has travelled for the magazine. We have clocked up quite a few kilometres visiting our children and grandchildren and parents. Ken’s mother and father sold their home unit in Sydney and are now in a wonderful aged serviced apartment in Wagga Wagga with lunch, dinner, linen, cleaning and company provided. Elizabeth’s mother continues at Fairlea nursing home in Sydney. Further deterioration of her circulation resulted in the amputation of her other leg this year. Elizabeth continues working permanent part-time in the Rehabilitation Ward at Shoalhaven Hospital, Ken does some computer training and web development work. We have some duties at our local church on the piano, leading services and crèche, with a fortnightly Christian radio program. We spend quite a bit of time with Shoalhaven Employers of Christian Education Teachers (SECET – see www.secet.org.au); Elizabeth is on the Board and Ken does the Newsletter, website and teacher support. We often add to our collection of pictures at www.poweringon.com/gallery - please take a look. Thank you for your ongoing interest. May God continue to bless you and yours as we celebrate the wonderful gift of love He has shown us in Jesus and anticipate His return. Ken and Elizabeth |
