December 2005

The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody worldwide: A Saviour has just been born in David’s town a Saviour who is Messiah and Master.” Luke 2 The Message. Isn’t God wonderful announcing the glorious gift of Christ to shepherds, and then the angels singing as we do, praising The Lord.

This year we have been moving around working with missions in Fiji (6weeks) and East Timor (2 months), and family in Nowra (helping Ken renovate the cottage), Perth, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Darwin (12 weeks) and Sydney (3weeks). In Fiji we stayed with Frank (from Oatley) and Robyn Hawkes at the South Pacific Missionary Training College, David built and Prue kept house and did some tutoring. There is a great swimming creek at the end of the grounds and warm weather! In Timor David built and Prue taught ESL (at a clinic where medical people come to help out and English is the common language). It was a special privilege to meet up with the YWAM team again and lots of new Timorese at DTS. This year we have hardly been home, so after Christmas it will be time to finish the house!! Apart from a few weeks off (he ran a store at Ernabella, SA, in May and helping Ken do up the Nowra cottage) David has been building somewhere for two years. Jesus always keeps us wondering where next? Present plans will see us here till sometime in March and beyond that maybe Hobart, Darwin, Thailand, East Timor or Fiji.

Family News.

Prue’s Mum had an accident while in her wheelchair and eventually moved into a home where she has 24 hour care. Our niece, Beth Derwent, was married in April as was Simeon Joyce ( Prue’s nephew) to Kelly and as the two weddings were close together in time we were able to be in Sydney and Berry. We enjoyed these special family gatherings.

Anne and Jason are still in Darwin, both teaching at Marrara Christian School. This year they have been worshiping with a home group. Jeshua has finished his final exam and hopes to do teaching next year. He loves the Lord and is involved with the youth of his church. Angelika is now nine and a great little girl she has taken up horse riding with Jason. Bridie (16) has been a second daughter for the Kelly’s this year.

In August Ruth and Jon had a great offer and sold their house then moved to Brisbane (The Gap). Jon still works for TIO at home. The boys all have new schools and friends. They have especially taken to BMX and Mountain bikes learning new skills each day. Jasper is running around like an adventure waiting to happen. We miss them all.

On 24th June Timothy David Sidey was born in Perth. We were blessed to stay with him, Julie, DJ and Joshua for about 3 weeks. The family has now moved to Sydney and is living in Mum’s house in Oatley. David drove with DJ and a loaded trailer across the Nullarbor while Julie flew, stopping in Adelaide to see her family. DJ has a job as a first officer flying 737’s for the new business class airline Ozjet. He spent 3 months away in Melbourne and Dublin training!

Jenny and Simon had their first child, Nathaniel Jack Buckley on 8th November. Prue spent some time there as Jen couldn’t drive. He is a beaut boy and weighed in at 10 lbs. They live about two hours drive away so we can see or stay with them on the Sunshine Coast. Some very yummy restaurants there, we are often blessed by Simon who takes us out to dinner. Ruth lives another hour away and it is a pleasure to be so close to two of our daughters and their families.

If you would like to see some of the events and photographs we have a family web site which if you click on the photo it will bring up a series and clicking again will enlarge a particular one. The address is:

Our letter did have three new baby ones but the amount of time to send and receive with dial up was too much.

May you have a blessed Christmas as we celebrate Jesus and our warm regards for a wonderful 2006.

Our love in Christ Jesus
